Airports– Fly into Cozumel or Cancun Airports

Cozumel has its own international airport and is just a 30-minute ferry ride from the popular tourist city of Playa Del Carmen in the Mexican Riviera Maya and a 30-minute cab ride from there to the larger Cancun International Airport. Guests can choose to fly into either airport and our concierge will be happy to help arrange your transportation.

Flights to the Cozumel International Airport arrive from airlines from the United States, Canada, Mexico and Spain; as well as light charter planes from Cancun. Currently there are direct flights available from Miami, Houston, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Charlotte, Detroit, Minneapolis, Montreal and Toronto, Madrid, Spain, Mexico City, Guadalajara, Monterrey, and Cancun.

The taxi and transport unions are very strong in Cozumel so we are not allowed to pick guests up at the airport. Ground transportation is not included in your stay but we are happy to recommend the best carrier for your airport transfer.

Once at the villa, we make every effort to call only the largest and best maintained van taxis to serve our guests. Drivers are interviewed and priority is placed on calling those who speak the best English. You never wait for taxis for planned outings like dinners in town because we almost always use the same taxis and drivers. They arrive early to be sanitized between use to Private Paradise standards and make any stops that may be desired. They also wait for guests while they dine and are available to run for any special needs that may come up during dinner and offer complimentary cold beverages during travel. What guests rave about most is that we take care of paying and tipping the drivers and charging each guest at checkout only for the taxis that they rode in. This way you will never have to be bothered with how to split up a bill and how much to tip.

At all other villas and resorts, it is the luck-of-the-draw with what shape the taxi and driver is that you get!

Much Safer Than The USA

The best part about Cozumel compared to other popular tourist destinations is the very, very low crime rate – less than 1% of major USA cities. Criminals shy away from the tiny island because they can’t simply drive away and would have to wait for a ferry to make an escape.

The island is uniquely anchored by proud Mayan natives who value it as gift that was handed down to them. They make a very good living here thanks to all the cruise ships that come. Locals value the island as a wonderful gift that was handed down to them so they keep the streets and sidewalks impeccably clean (honestly as clean as Disney World) and self-patrol to prevent pan-handling and petty theft. You will be hard pressed to find anyone begging for money here.

Cozumel also has the Guardian Angels which is the equivalent of free AAA road service. They continuously drive around the island in a fleet of pickup trucks to help tourist out at no charge who may have broken down on a scooter or need assistance getting back to their hotel, villa or cruise ship for any reason.

The best snorkeling and diving takes place right behind the villa and the water colors look like an ever-changing kaleidoscope of blues.

The sprawling compound is also uniquely located on a point where the land rises up on a theater seating like incline from the ocean to a one of the highest points on the island. This allowed us to build several buildings and entertainment areas that have higher and higher vantage points over top of each other so our guests enjoy jaw-dropping views from most areas inside and out of the villa.
